About Ruth
Ruth Harbour’s Bio
Ruth’s heart is full of a good theme—that is the love of God and His full redemption. She has spent over forty years in Taiwan as a missionary. Now, in her retirement, God has put an urgency in her heart to help people be ready for the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ, because he promised—“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and I will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” (John 14:3)
Ruth, with her husband, Mark, is a member of Global Outreach, International and has retired to Taiwan to continue the work of reaching the resistant west coast for Christ through a non-profit called Taiwan Harvest 119 Caring Association. She also aspires to better love and encourage her five children and fifteen grandchildren. Ruth received her Master of Arts in Worship from the Conservative Baptist Seminary in Shiluo Taiwan in 2022 where she majored in violin and discovered the joy of composing music. So Ruth aspires to write for many audiences, from children to adults, music lovers to aspiring missionaries.
Ruth Tells Her Story
I am Ruth Harbour. Most people know me and my husband, Mark, to be missionary church planters in Taiwan since 1983. From the beginning I have done children’s and women’s ministry, some youth work, Bible studies, discipleship, and evangelistic outreach. I had the privilege of working hundreds of hours with a translator to translate LifeWay Resource’s “FAITH Strategy” which I use to encourage churches to mobilize their small groups to do visitation ministry to seek the lost and bring them in. Mark and I served with SEND, International for thirty-five years until retirement in 2016; by that time we had helped to start seven churches and served many more which grew out of visitation ministry. Since that time, God blessed us with the support of many local pastors in Taiwan to continue running with the vision God had given us to reach the least reached along Taiwan’s west coast. We joined another mission family—Global Outreach, International—in 2018. In February of 2021 we founded the non-profit Taiwan Harvest 119 Caring Association; we began partnering with Taiwan’s west coast churches to reach their communities for Christ through prayer, training, and connecting them with resources and needed personnel. That means we can, also, mobilize YOU to help you plug into Taiwan missions!
I have led Ladies’ Retreats through the years and am presently enrolled in Deo Work’s Soul Journey with Sam Rima, author of “The Dark Side of Leadership”. I have an interest in coming alongside of others to help them in their walk with God.
I had two children when we arrived in Taiwan and birthed three more here. Raising them and giving them quality time was priority to me. But before they entered school, they accompanied me on neighborhood visits, Bible studies and such. As they grew up, they were part of our ministry. Now they are all married and have blessed us with fifteen grandchildren! I am retired, yet as busy as ever in the ministry in Taiwan. But I long to pursue a closer connection and regular communication with our precious children and grandchildren; keep your eyes on my KIDS’ CORNER!
After raising our five children, I got to finish my Master’s Degree in Worship at the Conservative Baptist Seminary in Shiluo, Taiwan. It was there that I began writing my end times novel for my Revelation class.
